Easing cross town traffic
A new bridge designed to ease traffic around Safa Park and Jumeirah is to open tomorrow, the Roads and Transport Agency (RTA) said. The four-lane Al Wasl Street Bridge is part of the Dubai Water Canal project and is expected to help traffic flow more smoothly. It will be used by traffic travelling from Al Wasl Street to Al Aathar Street and runs around the corner of Safa Park. The RTA said another elevated highway, the Jumeirah Street Bridge, is 70 per cent complete and is scheduled to open in July. “After opening Al Wasl Street Bridge, the canal works underneath the bridges would be finalised, sub-roads and sidewalks would be opened and all traffic diversions would be removed,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA.
