Bak­eries fined for poor hy­giene

Four bak­eries have been fined for op­er­at­ing in un­hy­gienic con­di­tions af­ter au­thor­i­ties found ro­dents and pests on their premises. Abu Dhabi Food Con­trol Au­thor­ity (ADFCA) said the fa­cil­i­ties were caught dur­ing in­spec­tion raids on 32 bak­eries across the emi­rate. While some bak­eries were found vi­o­lat­ing gen­eral clean­li­ness, oth­ers were booked for bad food han­dling. Warn­ings were also is­sued to 22 fa­cil­i­ties for not meet­ing food safety stan­dards. Al Yousef Al Saad, act­ing di­rec­tor of the com­mu­ni­ca­tion and com­mu­nity ser­vice divi­sion at ADFCA, said the food con­trol au­thor­ity will con­tinue to carry out rou­tine and sur­prise in­spec­tions to en­sure that food safety stan­dards are not dis­re­garded.
