Helping hand for female entrepreneurs
An event aiming to help female entrepreneurs in the UAE to get their ideas off the ground is under way.
The 1020 Exhibition for entrepreneurs started yesterday at 1020 Entrepreneurship Centre in Sharjah. It is supported by Sharjah Business Woman Council and Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre, and will run until June 17.
The exhibition is an integrated business platform for the small and medium enterprises in the UAE and wider Arabian region.
It aims to share business success stories and innovative practices to support the Sharjah economy. The organisers said it will also encourage entrepreneurs establish their personal brands.
Mariam Al Shamsi, Executive Director of 1020 Exhibition, said: “The exhibition is looking forward to putting up the renewable ideas and business opportunities in front of the Emirati youth of entrepreneurs.
“It also offers all the required facilities among the business environment and according to their suitable budgets, in order to promote their products and services.”
She said that the exhibition is mainly targeting female entrepreneurs and wants to empower women in medium and small enterprises sector.
More than 30 organisations are taking part, including local brands and fashion designers.
Al Shamsi said participants, for the first edition of the exhibition has been selected specifically. “For instance, we make sure that each participant has his own brand and we don’t accept any counterfeit goods, in order to encourage the concepts of innovation and creativity,” she said.
Facilities include a business centre for entrepreneurs, spa centre and a café.
