Organisers for Zayn Malik’s Dubai show “don’t have any doubt” the former One Direction star will still put on a top show in October, after the solo star pulled out of a high-profile London concert at the weekend, citing anxiety.

The Pillowtalk singer previously left Dubai fans disappointed when he quit the British boy band ahead of their UAE date in April 2015.

On Saturday, he pulled out of the Capital FM Summertime Ball at Wembley at the last minute.

Zayn tweeted: “Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has got the better of me. With the magnitude of the event I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.

“I cannot apologise enough… I know those who suffer anxiety will understand and I hope those who don’t can empathise with my situation.”

Thomas Ovesen, CEO of 117 Live, is confident there won’t be any issue with the one-off Dubai show at the Autism Rocks Arena on Friday, October 7. He said: “The show we have is a full live show with a full band and I would like to think that Zayn has plenty of time now to get accustomed to that show and comfortable with it. And also, on the basis of what happened (on Saturday) I would say that the audience he can expect on October 7, judging by the comments we’ve been getting, is going to be the most loving audience I can imagine any artist would be able to perform to. These are obviously super fans.”

It was just over a year ago that the 23-year-old walked away from 1D ahead of their sell-out show at The Sevens stadium last April.

Ovesen said: “I’m certain there are some issues with regards to becoming a solo artist but I think the kind of show he is going to do for us - and will eventually take around the world - is a different scenario.

“He is going from a boy band with other performers and now standing at the front of the stage. He has the band behind him but ultimately he is completely exposed. I think he has got plenty of time to deal with that and so far, we don’t have any doubt that he is going to put in a cracking performance in October 7.”
