Digital frontier awaits UAE start-ups
Digital start-up companies can increase the UAE’s GDP by $1.5 trillion and create 10 million jobs for young people in the process. That was the claim from industry experts at the SAP Startup Focus Event, which was held in the build-up to Gitex Technology Week 2016. During the two-day event with more than 150 participants, innovators gained insights from successful startup founders and interacted with media and venture capitalists. The figures were released as part of a recent report “Harnessing The Power Of Entrepreneurs To Open Innovation”. “We shall always try to provide small businesses and startups the right platforms to grow, expand and continue to look at ways to foster innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship", said Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource City. The UAE currently ranks as the top in the Middle East and North Africa, and in the top 20 in the world in supporting entrepreneurs.
