Busted holiday bandits are sent down
Sharjah Criminal Court has jailed two female burglars for six months and ordered they be deported after serving their sentence. The Lebanese women (pictured), in their 30s, broke into apartments in the emirate and stole cash and valuables. Police said they received information about a string of thefts in which mostly cash, gold jewellery, mobile phones and other expensive items were taken. They managed to identify the two women in February and tracked them to their residence, though they did not state where the pair lived. Officers raided the apartment and more than Dhs400,000 worth of goods were found. Police said that, when questioned, the suspects confessed they had targeted flats while their occupants were on holiday. However, the suspects denied the charges in court several times. Police urged the public to lock their doors and to make sure their valuables are secure.
