Cutting back on the technology
A UAE resident is going on a ‘digital fast’ for Ramadan. Omar bin Haider has vowed to be offline between suhoor and iftar each day as part of telecom firm du’s #digitalfasting campaign. The aim, said du yesterday, was for Haider to “reconnect with himself, his friends and family”. As part of the initiative, Haider will undergo a set of challenges throughout the month, using non-digital tools such as a film camera and maps. His adventures will be shared on du on social media. “Ramadan is all about strengthening one’s faith, the spirit of giving and creating and strengthening bonds. Therefore, this year, we urge you to focus on what really matters out there by reconnecting with your life beyond a device,” said Hala Badri, Executive VP, Brand and Communications, du.
