Dubai company produces the world’s most expensive tyres

The most expensive tyres ever made, costing Dhs2 million for a full set - and a spare - have been causing quite a spin in Dubai.

The rubbers were a one-time creation by Dubai-based company Zenises and have been sold to a mystery buyer.

Adorned in 24-carat gold and studded in flawless diamonds, the tyres were certified by the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive tyres ever made.

“We don’t know the final buyer,” said Harjeev Kandhari, the CEO of Zenises.

Kandhari said five tyres were made in total in the Sentury Tyre factory in Eastern China.

The custom-made set of four has already been delivered to the buyer, he said, with an extra one used as a show tyre.

Kandhari who designed the tyres himself said what makes them special is that they’re road legal.

“Its not easy to get road legal tyres made. Anybody can stick diamonds on a tyre and paint it in gold,” he said. By Shoshana Kedem

The tyres were returned to Dubai to be layered with gold-leafing by the same people that decorated the new royal palace in Abu Dhabi, whose identity remains confidential.

Commenting on his world record Kandhari, said: “We’ve always treasured the outstanding skills and dedication involved in developing our Z Tyre range so we thought what better way to celebrate this achievement than with a record-breaking special set of tyres especially commissioned for a unique buyer.”

He said the entrepreneurial spirit of Dubai made the creation possible, with proceeds directed to the organisation’s charity that helps under-privileged children in India.

“This environment has allowed us to dream big and develop world record breaking ideas,” he said.
