Do dads not matter? No Father’s Day at nursery

7 Days in Dubai - - PEOPLE -

I was excited waking up on Sunday. I had great expectations in relation to Father’s day. After all, to help our children celebrate Mother’s day our nursery really did a great job. There were lots of activities organised throughout the nursery day: dedicated crafts, cooking, a yoga demonstration, painting, drawing of hands on a canvas, a picture booth, a picnic, drinks… and much more. A true celebration and tribute to all the mothers. Then again, in May when there was no Mother’s Day in the UAE our children came home with some crafts they made in celebration of their mother as it was Mother’s Day in the US. So, today on Father’s Day… Nothing. No event, no crafts, not even an attempt from the nursery to make our children aware that it is Father’s Day. What message does that send to our children? Also, this country does not allow for men to be professionally involved in the education and care of young children. As a result our children are continuously surrounded by woman only. We as fathers
