Ra­madan con­sumer com­plaints up

A hot­line used to re­port price hikes dur­ing Ra­madan is re­ceiv­ing up to 110 calls a day, a se­nior of­fi­cial has said. Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, Direc­tor of Con­sumer Pro­tec­tion Depart­ment at the Min­istry of Econ­omy, said com­plaints to the min­istry’s call cen­tre are up 25 per cent on last year dur­ing the Holy Month. He was speak­ing dur­ing an in­spec­tion tour of Abu Dhabi Co­op­er­a­tive So­ci­ety at Abu Dhabi Mall. The min­istry runs a cam­paign of in­spec­tions dur­ing Ra­madan aimed at en­sur­ing that prices are con­trolled and that of­fers are be­ing hon­oured.
