Ramadan consumer complaints up
A hotline used to report price hikes during Ramadan is receiving up to 110 calls a day, a senior official has said. Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy, said complaints to the ministry’s call centre are up 25 per cent on last year during the Holy Month. He was speaking during an inspection tour of Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society at Abu Dhabi Mall. The ministry runs a campaign of inspections during Ramadan aimed at ensuring that prices are controlled and that offers are being honoured. To report unfair price hikes or retailers refusing to fulfil a promotion, call the hotline on 600 522225.
