Parker next up for dominant Joshua
Anthony Joshua expects to make the next defence of his IBF heavyweight title in November against rising star Joseph Parker.
Joshua successfully defended his title on Saturday night with a seventh-round stoppage of America’s Dominic Breazeale and is now set to have a brief rest following a hectic schedule since turning professional.
When asked who was next for Joshua, his promoter Eddie Hearn said: “We like the Joseph Parker fight, that’s the mandatory, we’ll have to deal with that at some point. That could be in November or December.
“He needs a long rest. He needs to go and be a young boy, go and sit on the beach with his mates and mess around. It’s been absolutely relentless.”
Having won the title in emphatic fashion against Charles Martin earlier this year, Joshua produced an accomplished performance to defend his heavyweight crown.
He demonstrated improving intelligence and patience against an impressively-resilient opponent, who unexpectedly took the heaviest of punches until referee Howard Foster waved the fight over after the second knockdown in swift succession.
