New shots of city appear in latest Star Trek trailer
With just weeks to go until the premiere of the latest Star Trek movie, fans got another glimpse of how Dubai will look in the blockbuster.
Star Trek Beyond is due to be released next month and includes scenes that were shot in the city last year.
The third trailer for the third film in the rebooted sci-fi franchise was released yesterday by Paramount Pictures. The opening scene features a shot of people walking through a square by a lake.
In the background is the familiar looking shape of a Dubai Metro station.
The cast and crew of the movie, including Chris Pine, Zach Quinto and Simon Pegg, were in Dubai in October, shooting at various locations, including Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Numerous extras were hired locally for the production and have been eagerly waiting to see if they make the cut.
Scenes of Dubai have appeared in earlier trailers, including in the very first preview where viewers can see an aerial view of Dubai and shots of people fleeing through a plaza in DIFC.
The release of the film, though, is tinged with sadness as one of the stars died earlier this month. Anton Yelchin, 27, who played Chekov in the series, died in an accident on June 19 when he was pinned between a mailbox pillar and fence by his car at his home in Los Angeles.
