Furniture row leads to court
Judge told how dispute ended in attack
Four men have gone on trial accused of physically attacking a man in front of his family while they were delivering furniture in Sharjah.
The Sharjah Misdemeanour Court was told that the four Pakistani defendants hit the Syrian victim and scratched his face in a building in the Al Majaz area, on April 7. Three of the suspects appeared before the judge, while the fourth suspect did not show up to the hearing.
“I am innocent,” a Pakistani defendant told the judge.
The Syrian victim told the judge: “I went inside the building and was waiting for the elevator with my three kids aged 3, 8 and 10. “I was going to visit my mother and father.
“I saw a group of men delivering furniture.
“I asked them to be careful while carrying the heavy furniture.
“However, one of the delivery men shouted at me and another two men ganged up to hit me.
“They punched me in my chest, scratched my face, broke my left hand and caused other injuries. I passed out.”
The three Pakistani men claimed that the man was hit accidently by the furniture.
A verdict is expected on August 10.
