Veathika Jain’s complaint last week about a lack of vegetarian options stirred up readers online

7 Days in Dubai - - LETTERS -

“I agree and empathise with you as I myself feel the same glitch in the non-Indian restaurant menus in Dubai whenever any vegetarian friend is accompanying me. Let me tell you that vegetarians have there own taboos. Many do not eat veg food in restaurants which also serves non-veg food, or if veg food is placed next to the non-veg food. So the restaurants in Dubai are fully justified in keeping very limited veg items on their list as there are very few open minded vegetarian customers. I feel uncomfortable when dining out with my pure vegetarian (good) friends.”

“Cook at home, most of us love meat to be bothered by your nonsensical tantrums, and the concept of veg is there only in India - so go to those Indian veg restaurants in Old Dubai.”

“You just don’t know where to eat! There is a huge range of vegetarian restaurants here in Dubai. Some western and many eastern. I’m not vegetarian but I revel in the options available.”

“I’m a strict vegetarian and usually find a reasonable choice.” MATTHEW PENNEY
