Previously they had been prohibited from entering the workplace but that’s changing due to a new decree. Now people between the ages of 12-18 will be allowed to work with a work permit and written consent from their parents or guardians. A decree was issued to that effect yesterday by Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, news agency WAM reported. Last year, Dr Warren Fox, Executive Director of Higher Education at Dubai’s education regular KHDA, said measures had to be taken to help students cope with the high cost of living. He told the Higher Education MENA Forum: “Among the problems we need to address is, firstly, the living expense. “Moreover, not all students are allowed to work, which is another issue we need to look at.”
