Readers respond to letter about abandoned dog

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7DAYS -

I would like to respond to the letter from Evelyn (‘How could people stand by and let stray dog suffer’, 7DAYS Letters, July 14) and would like to agree with you Evelyn animals do not seem to be important here and people will just walk on past and not help. I rescued a cat that was badly injured and took it to the vets and that was in a public area easily seen and people just looked at it and walked on sadly the cat died like the little dog. Perhaps it could have been saved and had a chance to be rehomed if someone had cared enough to help or look for him sooner. The animal welfare group try to help but just have too many to deal with at the minute and the public need to help. I personally could not walk away from an animal needing help. Thank you Evelyn for caring enough and showing compassion towards this little dog. Animal lover Dubai Unless a pro bono animal welfare service is set up, people will continue to look away. George, Dubai
