Residency for expats would be a boost for the economy

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7DAYS... -

All non UAE nationals who have lived in the UAE for 15 years, or more, should be granted permanent residency - not citizenship - of the country. This would provide a boost to the real estate market; allowing those born and educated in the UAE to remain, instead of being forced to go to countries which are in effect foreign to them; reduce recruitment and other associated labour costs; give expatriates added security and ensure knowledge, experience and skills, that can be put to use by future generations, are not lost.
