U AE-based teenager Ahmad El Yamani is one step closer to a career as a professional footballer after a successful trial with Spanish La Liga club Malaga CF.

As El Yamani, 16, is still too young to sign a deal with Malaga, he will now be enrolled at the du La Liga High Performance Center (HPC) in Dubai.

Malaga CF will follow his progress closely over the next two years, at which time he will be old enough to move to Spain. Over these two years he will continue his training at the du La Liga HPC and will also train with Malaga CF during school holidays and summer months.

El Yamani was one of six duFC players identified by scouts from various La Liga clubs for displaying great potential for a pro-career during their attendance at the 17-day duFC Summer Camp of training and games against La Liga’s best youth sides in July.

In addition to El Yamani, Nawwaf Husein, Ramy Hatem, Luka Eric, Yahia Iraqi and Ahmad Salam impressed coaches with their technical skills and abilities. The du La Liga HPC will be led by a number of UEFA pro-certified La Liga coaches, who were brought to the UAE specifically to run the advanced training at the centre. The HPC will have a revolving squad made up of under-18 players scouted nationwide through the du Football Champions platform. The programme will be led by head coach Rafael Gil, with Enrique Gonzalez working as assistant head coach and Juan Ruiz as the performance coach. Fernando Sanz, La Liga executive director for MENA, said: “We were impressed with the level of play the young players from the UAE demonstrated at the La Liga Summer Training Camp in Spain, excelling against some of the best youth players in the world. “Through the du La Liga HPC, I am confident that there will be players within the team who will make it to pro-football in the very near future.”
