Appeal to landlord and agent falls on deaf ears

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7 DAYS -

I moved to Dubai at the end of July from the UK and found a place in Dubai Marina through an estate agent. I met with a property consultant, fell in love with the place and agreed to two cheques payment for a 1 bedroom @145K. I paid the security deposit and tried to transfer my UK savings to pay the first cheque. For some bizarre reason my UK bank has blocked the payment to my bank in the UAE and the bank here won’t give me a reason. I then attempted to get a personal loan from my bank only to be who then told me I wasn’t eligible (despite being granted a Visa card with a six-figure limit) for a Dhs72,500 personal loan as I had not banked with them for six months. So I raised my dilemma with the property consultant who told me it was too late, I needed to find the money as I had signed and agreed to Ts&Cs as had the landlord and it was a legally binding contract and I would face serious consequences if I do not produce the two cheques in a week’s time when I am due to move in. I had met with the property consultant two days prior and handed over my 5% security deposit and signed contract – yet two days later I had still not received it back and now the consultant has purported that the landlord has signed it, I have tried calling and messaging the property consultant. I have even emailed the managing director and the chairman to raise my concerns and ask for evidence of the contract in my name, which I have signed and the landlord has signed too. I have offered the property consultant that I am prepared to make the 1st payment via my credit card at their office - to which I received the emoticon of a monkey covering its eyes – disbelief. I have until the 7th to produce the cheques. My question is: can I legally produce 2 cheques as per my contract - 1 valued to what I can afford this month and the 2nd to 75% of the total rental amount? Note: I have asked the property consultant to ask the landlord if he will accept 6 cheques at 12,033 and 1 at 72,500 but the property consultant has told me the landlord said no and I must stick to the original Ts&Cs of the legally binding contract - which I have yet to see with an ejaari number or the landlord’s signature. Very anxious expat Dubai
