ABU DHABI MAKE HISTORY AT THE 6 HOURS OF MEXICO
Khaled Al Qubaisi has spoken of his pride of singing the UAE national anthem on the podium after Team Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing stormed to victory at the 6 Hours of Mexico. They became the first Arab country to win a round in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) after securing first place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit. Al Qubaisi said: “It was a very tough race under very challenging conditions where strategy was the key to staying ahead; but we did it in the end. Everything came together. I am very happy and grateful for the victory.This is fantastic for the whole team. “I am told that this is the first time the UAE national anthem has been played at an international motorsport world championship. I dedicate this win to the UAE and all of the Emirates.” The team has now moved up to second overall in LMGTE Am class with four races still to go.
