THOUSANDS ARRESTED FOR BOUNCING CHEQUES
Dubai Police arrested more than 43,000 for bouncing cheques in the first half of this year. They also managed to recover and settle cases involving Dhs3.8 billion. General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, said that the figure was a significant increase on 2015, when 35,757 people were arrested. He said these cases ranged from “scams to accidental non-payment”. The largest case dealt with was a Russian businessman involved in a series of financial cases worth in total Dhs1.1 billion. Dubai Police said that they managed to reach a settlement with him.
