Court told of sex assault
An immigration employee is accused of luring a woman to his farm on the pretence of throwing a dinner party – only to then rape her.
Dubai Court of First Instance was told the 28-year-old Emirati, who works at passport control at Dubai International Airport, attacked the 23-yearold Italian woman at his farm in Jebel Ali. The woman also works at the airport.
She said she has known the defendant for several years and on May 28, 2016, he invited her to dinner.
“He came to my home and took me in his car,” she said.
“He said we would go to a farm where his brothers would bring their girlfriends to have dinner.”
When they got to the farm, the woman said they were alone. She claims the man dragged her to the bedroom and raped her. “I refused to let him touch me but he pushed me on the bed and ripped By Ali Al Shouk off my clothes,” she said.
The court heard the defendant went to the bathroom and the woman fled. She said she saw farm workers outside and asked for help but they said nothing. Her attacker appeared and dragged her back inside by the hair, she said. The court was told the man later drove the woman to Abu Dhabi.
“I asked him to stop at a petrol station and he didn’t leave me alone,” she said. “He even stood outside the bathroom door then took me to my place.” She told a friend what had happened and they went to the police.
The defendant denies rape. His lawyer accused the woman of trying to blackmail his client by fabricating the story.
Presiding Judge Fahad Al Shamsi adjourned the case.
