Cross-emirate water taxis would solve traffic issues

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7 DAYS -

We all see letters complaining about traffic issues all over UAE. However I feel there is a fantastic way to resolve this issue. In my opinion the UAE government should seriously consider the option of starting inter-emirate water taxis and sure this will resolve the traffic issue in a big way, control the pollution and reduce stress levels of people stuck in traffic. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah are all connected on the same coast. Introduction of water taxis would also open up revenue streams for the UAE government and am sure commuters would be more than happy to take these water taxis at a realistic price as most are already paying for Salik, fuel, fines, maintenance of cars, etc. Water taxis if planned well will be one of the biggest blessings for expats and local population making commuting faster, safer and stress free.
