Mother and baby die in car accident
A mother and her baby were killed when her husband jumped a red light and crashed into another car, police have said. The accident happened on Monday night in the Al Rams area of Ras Al Khaimah. The baby was three months old and the mother was 30. Another four people, including a seven-year-old boy and his threeyear-old brother, were severely injured in the crash. The family were all Egyptian nationals. Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Hamidi, from the General Directorate of Central Operations at RAK Police, said: “The family vehicle, driven by the 36-year-old father, jumped a red light and collided with another car driven by an Emirati. “The Emirati motorist was heading in the opposite direction at the time of the collision.” Emergency services arrived and took the injured to hospital. The bodies of the mother and baby were also transferred to hospital to be returned to their family. RAK Police have not said if the husband has been questioned yet, but said investigations are ongoing.
