Winner of 7DAYS My Summer revealed
Dreams might come true but, perhaps more importantly, they can pay off as well. Mary Margarete Serrano didn’t just fulfil a life-long ambition when she skydived over Dubai… it also helped her win the 7DAYS My Summer contest,
Mary was named the overall winner after winning a public vote of finalists picked from the 1,200-plus entries we received after asking you to tell us how you’re spending the summer.
“Skydiving’s been on my bucket list since college,” the 26-year-old Filipina told 7DAYS after learning of her triumph. “I’ve saved money since my first salary so I could afford it.
“I arrived at Skydive Dubai at 8am for the instructions and training. On the plane I was happy and nervous at the same time, but my instructor was cool. She made me feel safe and jump out the plane without worry.
“I really enjoyed the experience, and loved every second of it. Being so high up I was in awe of the priceless beauty of Dubai.”
Mary has worked as a private nurse in Dubai for two years. She said she enjoys spending her free time on extreme activities auch as bungee jumping, skateboarding and parkour. Now that skydiving is scratched off her bucket list, she is busy chasing other dreams.
“Now I’m engaged with longboarding and I tried driving a yacht recently,” she said.
Mary wins a FujiFilm XE-2 camera plus 27mm f2.8 lens and leather case courtesy of Gulf Photo Plus and FujiFilm.
