Man accused of using rope to strangle relative
An alleged hitman tried to kill a businessman by strangling him with a rope inside his car, a court has heard.
The 26-year old Pakistani appeared at Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday, where he denied the charge.
Prosecutors said that on May 22 this year the businessman, also Pakistani, was shopping in Dubai Mall with the accused, who is also his relative.
The victim claimed they were shopping until 4.30pm when they went to his car and the accused sat on the back seat claiming it was too hot to sit in the front.
The businessman said: “All of a sudden a rope was put around my neck and he started to strangle me.
“I yelled but he kept pulling the rope trying to kill me.”
He said he pressed the car’s horn on a number of occasions to try to get help, but the accused dragged him out the car, sat on his shoulder and started to pull on the rope again. By Ali Al Shouk
