Soldiers killed in attack on vehicle

This street cleaner is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Drivers along Route 460 in Blacksburg in the US last week were surprised to see the Sith Lord Darth Vader, from the Star Wars franchise, helping keep the roadside clean. However, this wasn’t a case of community service for evil deeds such as blowing up the peaceful world of Alderaan. Instead, Vader adopted a 2km stretch through the Adopt-a-Highway programme, which is run in Blacksburg. Under the mask was former local resident Henry Wakley, who now lives in New Zealand, but was back home in Blacksburg for two weeks so he decided to clean the place up. “I like to get out here and dress up because it makes people smile driving by,” Wakley told WSLS-TV. “The lack of cleanliness disrupts me.” The station said that throughout the day, numerous drivers honked their horns, waved or even stopped by to take a picture. Wakley said it had been a fun way to bring awareness to the environment. “We need to end this destructive behaviour to restore the galaxy,” he added. He said someone even alerted police that Batman was walking along the highway. Pakistani police said unknown gunmen killed three soldiers in the northwestern city of Peshawar. Police officer Shaukat Khan said gunmen struck yesterday morning, attacking a private vehicle carrying the three soldiers. Khan said attackers fled the scene on a motorcycle and a search operation was under way. No one claimed responsibility for the attack but Islamic militants have been involved in multiple such attacks in and around the provincial capital, which is surrounded by lawless tribal regions.
