So­lu­tions to tackle fu­ture chal­lenges

Self-driv­ing cars, ro­bot builders and 3-D or­gan print­ing are among the ideas se­lected for the 12-week Dubai Fu­ture Ac­cel­er­a­tors pro­gramme. Af­ter 2,274 ap­pli­ca­tions from 73 coun­tries, 30 com­pa­nies will work with seven gov­ern­ment au­thor­i­ties to de­velop and test the se­lected prod­ucts and so­lu­tions. The tech­nolo­gies will of­fer so­lu­tions to the chal­lenges fac­ing key sec­tors, in­clud­ing health, ed­u­ca­tion, en­ergy and wa­ter, trans­port, in­fra­struc­ture and se­cu­rity. Mo­hammed Al Ger­gawi, Vice Chair­man and Manag­ing Direc­tor of Dubai Fu­ture Foun­da­tion, said: “Th­ese ac­cel­er­a­tors will serve as a cat­a­lyst to re­search and de­vel­op­ment within the most strate­gic sec­tors, such as ed­u­ca­tion, health, in­fra­struc­ture, trans­porta­tion and en­ergy. “They will pro­vide a plat­form to de­velop new and in­no­va­tive so­lu­tions to the most press­ing chal­lenges fac­ing so­ci­ety.” Among the pro­gramme’s 30 fi­nal­ists in­clude com­pa­nies such as Next Fu­ture Trans­porta­tion, which spe­cialises in masstran­sit so­lu­tions and self-driv­ing ve­hi­cles; Con­struc­tion Robotics, spe­cial­is­ing in con­struc­tion so­lu­tions that in­crease pro­duc­tiv­ity five-fold; and Honey­well, the For­tune 100 com­pany work­ing on de­vel­op­ing ad­vanced dig­i­tal sys­tems for the health­care sec­tor.
