Why do taxi drivers think they are racing drivers?
I cannot understand how some taxi drivers have such terrible driving habits. Long hours and a tough job is not an excuse for some of the dangerous stunts they pull while speeding off at a signal or weaving through traffic. They are banging their foot down on the accelerator and not to mention speeding over speed bumps to get past before the pedestrian crosses. I cannot speak for anyone else but I have had some roller coaster experiences as a passenger. My suggestion would be to limit their cars to 3,000RPM. I’m sure there is also a way to analyse their driving behaviour with computers – you do wonder if they are testing out how fast they can get from 0-100kph at times. Pat, Dubai “Ridiculous”, “Pathetic”, “Scandalous”, “Outrageous”. Judging by some of the comments on our Facebook page you would think that 7DAYS readers were complaining about the latest episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Not talking about this week’s news from Emirates Airline. So Emirates has confirmed that it will it introduce a charge for economy passengers to reserve their seats in advance. The new fees, ranging from Dhs55 to Dhs174 depending on the length of flight, will be brought in from October 3. Why is everyone throwing such a hissy fit about this? I don’t understand. It’s not like the airline is doing anything new. British Airways and for a number of other airlines have been doing it for a while now. I know, because when I booked a BA flight recently, the option was there to pre-pay for advanced seat selection. I declined. The reason I can’t believe the “uproar” is that if you just wait until 48 hours before the flight, seat selection is free. Yes, you read it there. FREE. It’s not like Emirates is charging for tickets then, after booking, charging you again for seat selection. Just wait until 48 hours before departure. So readers, if you don’t like the new advance payment for seat selection, here’s some advice (in true fashion of our Facebook commenters)… “just pack up and go home”. Or you can just look at other airlines. It’s not like there’s no other choice. Anyway, I’m off on holiday for the weekend and am running late for the airport. See you in you first-class lounge. On Emirates of course. Because there’s no advance payment in first class. Happy travels.
