Sus­pects ar­rested af­ter street at­tack

Dubai Po­lice have ar­rested a gang of seven men sus­pected of at­tack­ing two brothers with swords dur­ing a street fight in a Dubai sub­urb.

An of­fi­cial at Rashidiya Po­lice Sta­tion con­firmed to 7DAYS that the seven Arab sus­pects are now in cus­tody.

The gang are ac­cused at­tacked the 20-year-old Emi­rati and his sib­ling af­ter mid­night on Septem­ber 4.

It is claimed the vic­tims were out­side their home in Al Warqa at about 3am and pre­par­ing to pick up a friend from the air­port when the at­tack took place.

Dubai Po­lice iden­ti­fied some of the sus­pects and ar­rested them, be­fore round­ing up the whole gang.

“They are now un­der cus­tody and will be re­ferred to Dubai Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tion to fin­ish the in­ves­ti­ga­tion,” the of­fi­cial said.

One of the Emi­rati vic­tims had claimed that he had no idea who the cul­prits were. His shoul­der was hacked with a sword and he was also punched in the face re­peat­edly. He claimed that he was with two friends and his brother leav­ing a house when two cars pulled near them and the sus­pects at­tacked them with swords and knuck­le­dusters. His two friends man­aged to es­cape un­harmed. 7DAYS spoke the in­jured man, named Ha­mad, in hos­pi­tal shortly af­ter the as­sault. “We tried to speak with them but they didn’t lis­ten,” he said at the time. “They cut my brother’s lips with a sharp tool and broke his jaw. They hit him on his back, which caused se­vere pain, now he can’t sit prop­erly. “They slashed my shoul­der with a sword and kept punch­ing and kick­ing us. “My two friends man­aged to es­cape.”
