“You can still choose your seat for free once check-in opens, which is 48 hours before the flight so not a big problem. The only people who will pay for this are the people who really wants a specific seat. After that, its first come, first serve once the check in opens.......like its always been.”

“If majority seats are booked in advance, what choice one will have during online checking?”

SANJEEWA MARASINGHE

“This will affect families the hardest. I have seen mothers, fathers and toddlers having to sit in different sections of an aircraft – not just different rows. Families will have to pay for their seats in advance in order to guarantee their children are close by.”

JACKY ROSE

“Emirates also mentioned that only a few seats will be available for the advanced seat selection. The majority of seats on the plane will be released for no charge at the 48-hour point, same as usual. Based on what I understood, there should be very little change from before, except that the dozen or so best economy class seats will go to those who pay more for them, not those who were lucky enough to get them first.”
