I am working for a local firm here in the UAE and resumed work just today from a short vacation. Recently we have received a sweet email from HR asking to hand over our passports to the company. The message read: “All employees are required to surrender/deposit the ORIGINAL PASSPORT in the Head Office for Safekeeping. “Therefore, everyone is advised to hand over immediately the original passport in the HR Department from biennial/ emergency Leave or any personal Transaction using your passport. “On that same day, it will be forwarded to Head office for SAFEKEEPING through our courier. You will then receive an email confirmation from us as a proof that we received your passport. (Standard
