AK­MAL RE­CALLED BY PAK­ISTAN AF­TER 18-MONTH AB­SENCE

Umar Ak­mal has been handed a sec­ond chance by the Pak­istan se­lec­tors af­ter be­ing named in the squad for the up­com­ing one-day in­ter­na­tional se­ries against the West Indies. The 26-year-old has not played ODI cricket for his coun­try for 18 months due to dis­ci­plinary is­sues, with selector In­za­mam-ul-Haq say­ing he lacked dis­ci­pline. How­ever, hav­ing been in the squad for the T20 se­ries – which Pak­istan lead 2-0 – Ak­mal will have a chance to prove his worth. There were also ODI re­calls for bats­man Asad Shafiq and pace duo So­hail Khan and Ra­hat Ali. The first ODI is in Shar­jah on Fri­day at 3pm.
