AKMAL RECALLED BY PAKISTAN AFTER 18-MONTH ABSENCE
Umar Akmal has been handed a second chance by the Pakistan selectors after being named in the squad for the upcoming one-day international series against the West Indies. The 26-year-old has not played ODI cricket for his country for 18 months due to disciplinary issues, with selector Inzamam-ul-Haq saying he lacked discipline. However, having been in the squad for the T20 series – which Pakistan lead 2-0 – Akmal will have a chance to prove his worth. There were also ODI recalls for batsman Asad Shafiq and pace duo Sohail Khan and Rahat Ali. The first ODI is in Sharjah on Friday at 3pm.
