Rafa Cabrera-Bello may be a new face on Europe’s Ryder Cup team, but the in-form Spaniard is relishing the chance to shine on the biggest stage. “This is what I have worked really hard for during my golf career,” said the Dubai resident. “The Ryder Cup is the pinnacle of our sport, with its tradition and position on the world stage of golf and in the sports world.” While the 32-year-old is known as one of the calmest players on the European Tour, he admits he has no idea what to expect when he stands on the first tee with a partisan crowd of USA fans behind him. “That’s a great unknown – I don’t know,” he added. “I will do my preparations as best I can in the lead up but I am very confident I can handle the pressure – this is why I play the game. For me it is a great opportunity to show my skills under the spotlight – bring it on.”
