Three peo­ple drown at Dubai beach

Dubai Po­lice have con­firmed that three peo­ple died in rough seas at the week­end at Umm Suqeim beach area near Burj Al Arab. Of­fi­cials from Dubai Po­lice said that they tried to res­cue three peo­ple from drown­ing on Fri­day. The vic­tims, two peo­ple from Sri Lanka and the third from In­dia, were drowned in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents on Fri­day, de­spite warn­ings from the author­i­ties telling res­i­dents to stay out of un­usu­ally rough seas. Also on Fri­day, a 24-year-old Egyp­tian man was res­cued af­ter he and his friend got into dif­fi­culty in the wa­ter off Al Khan beach in Shar­jah. His friend, a So­ma­lian in his 20s, was later found dead. At sun­set on Fri­day, five men were res­cued af­ter get­ting into dif­fi­culty off Al Ham­riyah Beach in Shar­jah. One of the men, a Syr­ian na­tional in his 40s, could not be re­vived.
