Prostitution gang in court
Thirty-five people have gone on trial accused of human trafficking and prostitution. Abu Dhabi Criminal Court heard the gang, men and women, were detained in two separate raids during an investigation. Prosecutors said in one of the incidents police caught eight women and six men from Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries in an apartment. A woman and her husband, who are among the defendants, allegedly ran the brothel and brought women into the country. The women, aged between 20 and 35, worked in partitioned rooms at the same time. In court, many of the women admitted to prostitution but others said they were being forced to work there. Five of the men denied trafficking and brothel-keeping. The trial continues.
