Flights re­sume af­ter storm

Flights from around the world have been dis­rupted af­ter Hur­ri­cane Matthew hit the state of Florida in US. Air­lines can­celled at least 5,000 flights on Wed­nes­day through Sat­ur­day, in­clud­ing many in and out of Or­lando, where all three of the re­sort city’s world-fa­mous theme parks - Walt Dis­ney World, Universal Stu­dios and SeaWorld - closed be­cause of the storm. Emi­rates has now re­sumed flights to Or­lando. In a state­ment yes­ter­day, the air­line said: “Fol­low­ing the de­crease in the im­pact of Hur­ri­cane Matthew, Emi­rates op­er­a­tions to and from Or­lando re­sumed on Oc­to­ber 8, 2016. “How­ever, Emi­rates flight EK219 to Or­lando ex­pe­ri­enced a de­lay of ap­prox­i­mately 5hrs. The re­turn flight EK220 has been resched­uled to leave Or­lando for Dubai at 5.40pm with a de­lay of about 3hrs. “Emi­rates will con­tinue to mon­i­tor the sit­u­a­tion closely. “Pas­sen­gers are ad­vised to check emi­ for fur­ther up­dates.”
