Ryder Cup lost by default due to wildcard handicap

7 Days in Dubai - - DEAR 7 DAYS -

Why did Paul Casey not play for Europe as a wild card in the Ryder Cup? He’s earned the money, is experienced, had form, good record in the Ryder Cup, came fourth at the Masters, what more is required? OK so he might not be a European Tour member, but if you have a wild card that should overrule that, otherwise you cannot pick your best team. I noticed the Americans allowed themselves 4 wild cards against our 3 European choices. If a Captain cannot pick his best team then there is fundamentally something wrong. A pairing of the Masters winner and fourth would have been a top pairing by any stretch of the imagination. I would also say that America won by default if you cannot play your best players. Casey should have been in the team. Geoff UAE Maelle Dubai
