Police rescue girl who took pills
Dubai Police saved a girl who attempted to commit suicide live on social media.
Brigadier Engineer Kamel Butti Al Suwaidi, Directorate of General Operations Director at Dubai Police, said the force acted on a tip from a young woman who had spotted the Arab girl, in a video posted on her Twitter account, as the victim swallowed pills to try to end her life.
Police identified the girl from her Twitter account and hurried to intervene.
Al Suwaidi said police phoned the victim’s father after getting his number through his daughter’s Twitter account.
In order not to scare the father, the police informed him that they had received a call from his daughter, who they said was sick.
The father stays in a different area far from her daughter, it was claimed.
“The officers told him that the call got disconnected before they could find out her By Ismail Sebugwaawo location and that they could not reconnect to her number,” said Al Suwaidi.
The father then gave police the girl’s sister’s number, who was reached immediately. “The victim’s sister managed to intervene just in time and transferred her to the nearest hospital before the police patrol and ambulance arrived at their home,” said the officer.
No reasons have been given as to why the girl tried to end her life.
Also, Police did not mention her age or the date when the incident occurred.
The Police statement said the woman’s family has thanked and praised the force for their quick intervention which helped save the life of their daughter.
