Obaida killer assigned new lawyer
The Dubai Appeals Court has assigned a new lawyer to represent a Jordanian man sentenced to death for sexually assaulting and murdering seven-year-old Obaida Al Aqrabawi in May. Nedal Issa Abdullah, 48, received the death sentence at Dubai Court of First Instance in August. His new lawyer Ali Musabbeh Dahi requested a copy of the case file to prepare his arguments and his requests. The presiding judge told police officers yesterday to bring the Jordanian from his jail cell after he failed to show up to the hearing. The court adjourned the trial to October 23. Abdullah’s previous lawyer Omran Darwish had said that he won’t represent him in the appeal hearing. “I hope the court won’t assign me again to represent him. It’s a hard task,” said Darwish.
