Sickened by litterbugs and their leftover chicken bones

One of my favourite things to do at a weekend is pack a picnic for myself, my husband and my small daughter and head to the beach, making sure to pick up and throw any rubbish in the bin before we leave. Al Mamzar beach has been a favourite of ours for a while but I am beginning to wonder if we will keep going there. I don’t know why, but lately we have noticed a big increase in the amount of rubbish dropped there, hundreds of cigarette ends, plastic bottles, and even chicken bones from people’s takeaway dinners. It really is quite disgusting, and often just a few feet from litter bins. The same thing happens in my local park too. I see youngsters finish a drink then simply drop the bottle on the floor and walk away. Do people not realise that they are ruining these open spaces for others with their selfish behaviour? Do they think, perhaps that their disgusting trash will simply disappear or be carried away by fairies?
