Cars in the UAE are to have new technology that contacts the emergency services in Dubai if a serious accident happened. Dubai Police said that the new initiative will be installed in Nissan cars and it will alert the force when the car is involved in a serious crash. Brigadier Khalid Nasir Al Razooqi, Head of Smart Services Department in Dubai Police, said that the new technology will be in new Nissan Patrol and Maxima vehicles, and will send an SOS message to the command room in the event of a crash. Brigadier Al Razooqi said: “The new technology will be installed in the new Nissan cars and can send an automatic message to Dubai Police command centre whenever the car is involved in a serious accident. The new system will send a report about the vehicle’s location and speed five seconds before the accident to help police patrols and ambulance to reach the place as soon as possible and save lives.” Dubai Police is launching the new technology during GITEX 2016 and it will work in the UAE only. “The system can estimate if the accident is serious or minor to allow Dubai Police to call the driver and check his condition,” Al Razooqi said.
