Is any­body do­ing any­thing to tackle food wastage?

In re­sponse to the ar­ti­cle ‘Show more heart to end global hunger (Oct 16), I would like to ask: why are large vol­umes of food be­ing wasted, es­pe­cially at restau­rants where there are buf­fets? Can we, as res­i­dents do at least some­thing to pre­vent this from hap­pen­ing and do some­thing more from our side so that it will go a long way to help the peo­ple who are in need of these ba­sic re­quire­ments? Con­sid­er­ing that we as res­i­dents use a lot of what is avail­able as a nat­u­ral re­source, es­pe­cially wa­ter, thus lead­ing to short­ages, not only here but in other coun­tries as well. I hope some­thing is done about this im­por­tant global is­sue so that peo­ple who are in real need of food and nour­ish­ment can ben­e­fit. Con­cerned Dubai
