No need to be in the office if we live in a smart city

7 Days in Dubai - - EVENTS -

We live in a digital era. We have the world literally at our fingertips. So why are ALL jobs still pay-forpresence? ‘Presence’ means you’re paying more for less. People spends hours a day chatting in the office, playing on their phones, even searching for new jobs... and companies let them to do it because of old fashioned ‘pay-forpresence’ thinking. Many jobs could be done from home with weekly meetings and online collaboration. And rather than paying for a seat in a chair, employers set expected work targets (e.g. develop graphics for 2 upcoming ads today), and the employee can have online meetings or do whatever but they must and submit required work by the end of the day. If they want to spend the day playing on their phone then they lose as they do not submit their work on time and reveal that they are not fulfilling their role (rather than saying they had been in the office all day but it was too much work and employers believe it as they saw them in the office ‘working’). This could also reduce traffic. We live in a smart city. It is time for companies to catch up with the times. 22nd Century Dubai
