A woman and her alleged lover have been arrested after her husband’s burning body was found dumped in an industrial area in Dubai.

Dubai Police released details of the crime after the man and woman were arrested on suspicion of premeditated murder. Officers said they killed the woman’s husband as she wanted to end the marriage following a series of furious rows between the couple.

The wife, a 24-year-old Comoros Island national, had been having an affair with her co-accused, who was close friend of her husband, behind his back, police said.

According to the force, the woman and her lover, 27, (both pictured) plotted to kill the husband and had planned to tell his family and friends that he had gone missing while on a fishing trip.

However, their plan was foiled when a security guard stumbled on the naked body of their victim near a warehouse in Al Qusais on October 15. Police said the husband’s head had been doused with petrol and set alight in a bid to prevent him from being identified.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina, Director of Dubai Police, said: “The security officer said that he was doing his usual inspections when he found the deceased’s body on fire.”

He said officers were eventually able to identify the husband, who was 26, and went to question his wife. He said they found her evasive and nervous, leading them to suspect she had a hand in her husband’s death.

Al Muzaina said: “The woman claimed her husband had disappeared 14 days ago after he went on a fishing trip. “Police noticed that she was shaky and disingenuous. Officers collected more evidence and questioned her again. “The woman confessed that she had been having an illegal affair with the victim’s friend for almost two years.” He added: “She also told police that she had many problems with the deceased and that she used to go out with her lover, who’s also her husband’s friend, secretly.” He said on the day of the murder the husband and wife had a furious row and he left their home. He arranged to meet his friend – the man his wife was seeing – to talk about his marital problems, unaware that they had plotted to kill him. The friend drove them to Al Qusais then turned on the husband, striking his head on a rock then running over him several times to ensure he was dead. He then drove to a service station, bought petrol and returned to burn the body. General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, told 7DAYS: “The woman told police that she had many family related fights with deceased man. “Therefore, she planned with her secret lover to get rid of her husband.” The suspects have been referred to public prosecution.
