Were you “that” driver who was on the SZR on Satur­day night and in a rush to get back to Abu Dhabi? I’m ter­ri­bly sorry be­cause I was driv­ing “that” car that you couldn’t get past in the out­side lane. I know you were in a fright­ful hurry as I saw you ap­proach­ing at about 180kmh and then couldn’t help no­tice the white flashes that made me think I was be­ing tail­gated by a de­mented light­house. Em­bar­rass­ingly, I re­alise now that you must be ter­ri­bly im­por­tant and that my be­ing on the road and crawl­ing along on cruise con­trol at an an­noy­ingly slow 137kmh must have been a huge in­con­ve­nience. I also saw how an­gry you were when I looked in my rear view mir­ror and saw your face il­lu­mi­nated by the phone that you were hold­ing un­der your chin while you were driv­ing. Had I re­alised that it was “you” I would have tried harder to get out of the way. Un­for­tu­nately the 50 or so cars ahead of me were all do­ing around 140 and the three lanes of solid traffic on the in­side lanes were mov­ing at a sim­i­lar speed but with no gaps.
