I was shocked to a re­cent events list­ing that en­cour­aged Dubai res­i­dents to ac­cess and stroll around the grounds of pri­vate villa com­mu­ni­ties on foot. Res­i­dents of these pri­vate com­mu­ni­ties are re­quired to pay hefty ser­vice charges (6 times the av­er­age of other villa com­mu­ni­ties), which is meant to guar­an­tee both ex­clu­sive use of pri­vate land­scaped gar­dens, as well as higher lev­els of se­cu­rity, so as to pre­vent tres­passers from ca­su­ally ac­cess­ing the com­mu­nity. I’m amazed that the man­age­ment of one of the com­mu­ni­ties has re­laxed its se­cu­rity pol­icy with­out con­sul­ta­tion with res­i­dents.
