Rape victim lured by ‘woman in labour’
A woman has told of how she was gang raped by three men after one posed as a pregnant lady to trick her into getting into their car.
The Filipina was kidnapped and raped in a remote area after agreeing to help, believing the ‘woman’ was in labour.
Her ordeal on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi in May was revealed in court as her attackers, three Bangladeshis, were each sentenced to 10 years in jail.
Abu Dhabi Criminal Court heard the woman was walking on a road in the outskirts of the city after visiting a friend one evening.
She said a white car pulled up alongside her and a man opened the rear car door.
She saw one man behind the wheel and another in the back seat with what appeared to be a woman on her back.
The victim testified: “The woman was touching her stomach while screaming that she was in a lot of pain and that she wanted to deliver her baby in a hospital.”
She said the men explained they had recently moved from another emirate and could not find a hospital, asking her to get in.
The woman said: “I first hesitated, fearing getting in with strangers. But when the men insisted that they needed my help, I felt sorry for the pregnant woman and offered to help them.”
As they neared the hospital she directed them to, they turned in a different direction.
When she asked where they were going they tied her up.
She said: “I was shocked to see the person who claimed to be pregnant and in labour was just in disguise as a woman, I saw it was a man.”
She said they took her to an isolated place where they raped her one after another. They left her after taking her mobile phone and wallet. The men will be deported on their release.
