Tasty way of learning
More schools need to teach children from an early age about healthy diets and lifestyles in the hope they will carry the habit into adulthood. According to Sandy Seeds Health and Awareness, 33 per cent of UAE students are overweight, while 20 per cent have been diagnosed with diabetes. Sandy Seeds is building a network of edible school gardens around the UAE, each one engaging children about healthy eating, food education and entrepreneurism. Victory Heights Primary School ( VHPS) in Dubai Sports City introduced the ‘Ground to Plate’ project yesterday – an initiative aimed at teaching children how to grow their own food and instilling the importance of health and wellbeing through hands-on sustainability education.
