Cyclist has a message for drivers and bicycle fans

7 Days in Dubai - - EVENTS -

This is in response to a recent letter about cyclists staying off road. I’ve been cycling around the city of Dubai and neighbouring emirates for the past five years and I would proudly say that I’ve already been through every street and corners of Dubai by cycling. Being an urban cyclist, it’s hard to hear that riders like me don't have equal rights while on the road. Seasoned cyclists know their limitations and are aware of do’s and dont’s on the road for their safety. We cyclists have to be thankful that in the span of few years we have witnessed a rapid development in building cycling tracks around Dubai. Cycling tracks were built along major routes and recently all weather tracks were built on the outskirts of Dubai for riders’ convenience and safety. It’s so sad that a few cyclists ignore safety along the roads. We, the law abiding cyclists, have to suffer for their negligence and ignorance of the law.
